The West River Passive Solar House property is perfect for harnessing the sun’s energy, with a south-facing slope towards expansive water views of the river and harbour. An ideal lot that provides ample passive solar gain, natural lighting and cross-ventilation strategies. The home was designed and built using modified ICF block with an effective R-value of 35, R-60 roof insulation, triple-glazed windows with high solar heat gain coefficient to the south and increased U-values to the north, east, and west. Thermal-Buck window installations assist with thermal bridging issues often experienced at window and door penetrations.
