Our Story

We’re a Charlottetown, PE based architecture firm focused on sustainable design offering a full range of architectural services. Our projects include single family, multi-unit residential, commercial, interior fit-ups, lab/production facilities, recreational and institutional buildings. We provide a host of design services for new building construction, major renovations and additions, and master planning design for development proposals and business plans. Enriching livability with functionality, our design strategy negotiates between traditional building methods and modern architectural achievements to produce uniquely modern architecture, rooted in traditional style and materiality, with the function and purpose of sustainable design.

Sustainable Design

1

SableARC has become one of the leading sustainable design firms on Prince Edward Island. We believe that every project should be eco-effective and see sustainability as providing three important benefits:

  1. It’s just better. It is good for the natural environment and it is good for us. Preserving the land on which we live and materials we consume benefits all of humankind.
  2. It can save you money. By thoughtfully investing in the building envelope, choosing the right heating, cooling, and power solutions that are responsive to both the internal and external environment will save you money long-term. A short-term investment which delivers long-term gains AND saves the environment? Sounds like a smart choice to us.
  3. Green is the new black. We are living in a new architectural era – a sustainable era. The building industry is shifting more focus to the research and development of sustainable technology and building materials. Governments are creating sustainable building targets. All of this gives us more tools to design smarter, healthier buildings, which look good on everyone.

Thoughtful Design

2

SableARC designs range from custom homes and commercial builds to large-scale institutional and sustainable projects in Prince Edward Island, across the Atlantic Provinces, British Columbia, and into the New England States. With every project we consider site-specific elements, including the natural and built environment, views, natural light, micro and macro climatic effects, and the surrounding context. Our team is in constant pursuit of the perfect balance of sustainable, modern and traditional design.

We also understand and appreciate the realistic constraints of time and budget. Not every building type is the same and requires a unique approach to sustainable design. If the design is not ECOnomically sound, it’s usually not ECOlogically effective. An over-extended return on investment can have a negative impact on the environment.
