About this Project

The Portside is a large multi-unit apartment project consisting of 30 affordable units and 40 market rate units. It is considered a high-rise structure, standing seven storeys, making it the tallest building in downtown Summerside. The building is comprised of a super steel structure, composite concrete slabs and panelized steel wall frames. A confined site and tight construction budget was established as a partnership between a local developer and the provincial and federal government. Following the standards outlined by specific CMHC funding requirements, the building has been designed to be 45% more energy efficient than the NECB. Increased insulation, fibreglass window/door units and a VRF heating/cooling system help to achieve this target.
