The Explorers Society Hotel

About this Project

The McKinnon Building was originally constructed in 1911. It existed as a transient residence for mining and railroad workers during the first park to the twentieth century. In the early 1990’s it was converted into the Nickelodeon Museum and closed its doors in 2014. This beautiful masonry and wood building has been completely reborn with a major renovation to become the Explorers Society Hotel. It contains a 12-unit boutique hotel, restaurant, and event space. The hotel has been designed with an additional third-story level lounge, roof deck, and private hot tub with amazing 360 degree panoramic views of Mount Begbie, Revelstoke, and Williamson. The interior design carries a balanced mix of rustic mountain-lodge features with clean contemporary lines and materials.
