Laine Brehaut

Project Manager / Interior Designer

A graduate of Algonquin College’s Interior Design program, Laine (an Islander by birth) returned to PEI to establish her career in the architectural field. She worked as a project manager and interior designer at BGHJ in Charlottetown for eight years, collaborating on many major projects such as rebranding for the NSLC, Holland College renovations, several sites at UPEI, and a multitude of corporate projects.

A deep concern for the development of a sustainable future and a belief that responsible design can make a positive impact on our daily lives have led Laine to pursue projects where her efforts have a direct impact on the lives of children, the elderly and the wider community. She recently spent nine months designing and implementing an educational program for children through the PEI Wild Child program – a program in which the children learn the importance of their native ecosystems and the value of positive action.

Laine and her husband are both environmentalists, so in 2008, when they started considering the construction of their home, they took the plunge and built a straw bale house in their beautiful Emyvale meadow. The site now boasts a small farm where they are raising their two children and constantly taking on new projects and skills. Their most recent acquisition is a portable sawmill, so we expect big things!
